Slobodkina was trained by her mother (a professional seamstress) in sewing skills, crochet and beading. She never needed a pattern and made all clothing using her dress form.

This tailored dress is made from a remnant of terra cotta and black pin-checkered material trimmed with black velvet and jet buttons.
